We are the go-to place to find the right kind of companionship, to save or enhance your current relationship or, to salvage all the dignity and connection you once had in your relationship.
I value the freedom of human expression in all of its forms. I believe it is important to be aware of the responsibilities we all have to ourselves and to those around us when we choose (or choose not) to express ourselves freely. Consistent with these values, I believe in the importance of living in sustainable partnership with a living earth of which we are all a part.
I combine my skills in coaching, counselling/psychotherapy and conflict resolution in order to facilitate a more meaningful experience of life for all of my clients. I value each client’s emotions as a ‘guidance system’ or compass that can point them in the unique direction that they need to travel to feel meaningful and fulfilled within their own life. Thoughts are then understood as attempts to make sense of, realise or take control of these feelings, and these thoughts can either work with or against the emotions. I believe that each person moves through life within a personalised understanding of what life is all about and what their role is within that life, and that this understanding lies within the wider context of their relationships with other people and with the world around them. I use a wide range of techniques and approaches to assist clients to clarify and make meaning of the whole of their experience.
I graduated from university with degrees in psychology and law, and at first I followed a pathway into legal practice, mostly family law. I soon discovered that while the law was stimulating it did not satisfy me and I was more interested in the helping the real people solve the problems behind legal problems. This took my career in a different direction via retraining in gestalt therapy. Inspired by the approach to Being that underpins gestalt therapy I travelled to the UK to study with world leaders in existential therapy, my passion and true calling. Existential therapy is, in essence, “assisting people to live meaningful and fulfilling lives”. I now work as a counsellor and coach, and teach counselling and existential therapy at the Australian College of Applied Psychology in Melbourne.
